The Wild Child is that part of you that is instinctual, intuitive, untamed, and authentic.
It is the part of you that knows but doesn’t understand how it knows.
It is the artistic, the spontaneous, and the free part of you.
It is the one that will take risks, that will take time to play,
that only spends time on things that have true meaning,
like singing, dancing, creating, and caring.
It never straightens its hair nor looks in the mirror
with the notion of dressing to please another.
It likes what it likes and it never apologizes for who it is.
Neither does it condemn another for who they are.
It has no reason to be offended.
No need to feel ashamed.
It is a wild rose that climbs towards the sun
and shares its beauty and fragrance freely with all.
It does not withhold its gifts
nor does it censure its praise
for it is full of love and of life--
drunk with the possibilities of what each day can bring.
It has not been tamed by the expectations of others,
or made itself small in order to not be seen.
It is organic and is not toxic.
In fact, it is not tame at all.
If you try to put it in a cage and contain it
or capture it or name it or categorize it,
it will disappear into thin air.
It will vanish before your eyes.
It will appear some place else where it is free to grow
and will not be restricted or fenced in
or pinned down or cut short.
The Wild Child is who we are--
when given a chance,
it is who we will become.
