If You Can Imagine It...

The other day I was looking back at an old journal. It is almost 20 years old. In it is an entry where I imagine my “ideal” day. I spared no detail. I wrote down where I wanted to live, what kind of laundry room I wanted to have, how I wanted to spend my time, what kind of relationship I wanted to be in, and on and on. I was struck with two things as I was reading this. One, how impossible it all seemed at that time that my life would ever look anything like what I had written down, and two, there were an amazing number of things that were on my wish list that are now a part of my everyday life.

What would my life look like if I had never taken the time to dream and imagine? Quite different I am certain. Do you want to manifest something beautiful in your life? To manifest or create something we begin with an idea. You have to first imagine something before you can create it. Everything begins with a thought. God speaks and the idea of Source manifests instantly. With God as a co-creator we are in good hands!

Manifestation, which is bringing something into existence, or manifesting it—is a spiritual principle. You connect with Source to co-create. One must first imagine, and then create. You can think of the imaginal as the feminine principle and the manifestation as the masculine principle. This is the balance of the receptive and the active. We work with Spirit to accomplish both the conception of the idea and the manifestation of it.

Part of our service to the world is to manifest ideas, projects, ministries, crafts, buildings, and books—anything you can think of. God partners with us to continually create new, beautiful, and interesting things in the world. The Creator loves to work through It’s creations to make an ever-evolving, fascinating, fun Universe. It is part of our dance with the Divine. God loves working with us.

We have sometimes been led to believe that it is selfish to have a good life or that living your dreams could not possibly involve a close, spiritual walk with God. Nothing could be further from the truth. The closer we walk with Spirit, the more we will be able to manifest with greater ease the beauty that God wants to live through us. God loves to give us the desires of our heart.

This is connected to the idea of abundance. If we understand that we live in an abundant Universe we begin to realize that an abundant God shares abundantly with us all. If we find a lack of abundance and a dearth of good ideas, it is an evidence of our need to spend more time devoted to spiritual practice. Making time for soul development and spiritual disciplines is the first step towards manifesting an abundant future. As the scripture reminds us, “Every good and perfect gift comes from above.” It also reminds us, “To taste and see that the Lord is good!”

To imagine it is to begin to create it. This is where meditation is so powerful because we remain quiet and receptive long enough to hear the voice of Spirit. We are often fresh out of ideas because we are so busy and we remain separate from the Source or Creator of all ideas. If you want to manifest more beauty in your life Partner with Source to bring forth the unique gifts that God wants to share with the world through you.
