The Wounded Masculine

The term masculine I am referring to is the male/sun qualities within each gender. In using it I am not making reference to gender. The masculine qualities are the acting/doing qualities in both men and women. The masculine quality is the seed or idea that is planted in the soil/womb of the feminine. Our masculine quality is our acting out or manifesting ideas in the world that have been created in the feminine. In Jungian psychology, the masculine aspect of the psyche is the animus. The wounded masculine aspect in our culture and world is evidenced in an abuse of power. It is the male aspect that feels it is not strong enough and so it overcompensates by being aggressive, filled with bravado, and disrespectful of the viewpoint and boundaries of others (think Clinton/Lewinsky). Love Unites, Fear Separates

If love is the universal glue that holds all of creation together and unites us to All That Is, then fear is that substance which dissolves all connections and separates us into factions, severing the very ties of life that seek to heal and sustain us. In a world filled with fear, love is needed more than ever before. This is the not the red heart Valentine kind of love. This is the Mother Teresa, Jesus, and Buddha, love. A kind of love that gives from the heart for the uplifting of humanity. A kind of love that is willing to get dirt under the fingernails and can give until it is felt. A gratuitous love will never accomplish what needs to be done. What the world is hungering and thirsting for is a love that goes to the bone, which cuts straight to the heart of things and holds nothing in reserve. Only Love Heals

Sometimes when people have cancer, they will be asked to visualize the cancer cells as the enemy and to then picture them being aggressively attacked and moved out of the body. But there is a problem with this tactic. Only love is a healing energy. We can't use a negative energy to heal anything. When we find ourselves out of balance—negativity only creates more imbalance. I know for me, focusing on what I perceive as wrong with my body or some other aspect of myself, only creates more discomfort—more imbalance. Learning unconditional love and acceptance is one of the hardest things to learn. In fact, I sometimes wonder if it is The One Thing that we are here to learn. Everything else puts us into a state of separation, fear, alienation, distress, and dis-ease. True healing—on all levels—is always a by-product of love—for it is the quintessential healing energy.
